Cultivate London exists to support young people gain skills, work experience and access into ongoing employment.   During 2012 we will offer up to 30 trainee positions to:

• young people currently unemployed and no longer engaged in education
• aged between 16-24 years
• current residents of Ealing and Hounslow boroughs
• keen to work and learn outdoors on urban farms

We will recruit 10 x young people in November, February and May.

Volunteer Traineeship

Initially, young people work on Cultivate London growing sites voluntarily as trainees. We provide practical, hands on work experience and training in:

• Constructing growing sites
• Sowing, planting, watering and harvesting herbs, salad leaves and vegetables
• Health and safety
• Manual handling
• First aid

A volunteer trainee completes between 10-15 hours per week for three months on our growing sites.  The fourth month is completed with another company so that Volunteer Trainees continue to build on their horticulture knowledge, skills and experience.

Apprenticeships

Each year, Cultivate London Ltd is able to offer a small number of paid apprenticeships to graduates of our trainee programme.

Cultivate London apprentices will achieve a Diploma in Amenity Horticulture, delivered by Caple Manor College, whilst working 28 hours each week.  An apprenticeship lasts between 12-18 months, depending on how quickly the apprentice gets through the course work.
